Oklahoma – Charity Corruption Investigation
Oklahoma’s AttorneyGeneral has filed another in a series of corruption investigations against Feedthe Children. The investigation focuseson the ousting of Larry Jones as the nonprofit’s former president. The investigation is part of an ongoing casebetween Mr. Jones and the nonprofit over his termination and management of theorganization. The judge in the casepermitted the Attorney General to intervene as of March 23 toprotect the public’s interest.
Feed the Childrenalleges that Mr. Jones took bribes, hid sexually explicit magazines at thecharity and set up secret recording devices in the offices of executives at thecharity. Mr. Jones’ response allegesthat the charity knowingly failed to pay taxes, misrepresented operations toencourage donations, mismanaged funding, and improperly firedwhistleblowers. Criminal charges againstMr. Jones are one possible outcome of the investigations.
Mr. Jones is seekingreinstatement as president of the nonprofit in a separate lawsuit.
