ICNL Congressional Investigations Tracker & Recent Congressional Hearings
For anyone trying to keep up with the flurry of congressional investigations targeting various nonprofits, the International Center for Not-for-Profit Law is regularly updating its very helpful Congressional Investigations webpage. The webpage lists letters sent by individual members and groups of members, as well as letters, subpoenas, and other inquiries from various committees. Some of the inquiries are directed at executive branch officials, while others are addressed to specific nonprofits.
What the webpage does not list are the often related hearings by various congressional committees. Recent such hearings focusing on nonprofits include:
- House Delivering on Government Efficiency (DOGE) Subcommittee “Public Funds, Private Agendas: NGOs Gone Wild” Hearing (June 4, 2025)
- House Committee on Education & Workforce “Antisemitism in Higher Education: Examining the Role of Faculty, Funding, and Ideology” Hearing (July 15, 2025)
- House Judiciary Oversight Subcommittee “How Leftist Nonprofit Networks Exploit Federal Tax Dollars to Advance a Radical Agenda” Hearing (July 15, 2025)
Protect Democracy has a helpful primer for nonprofits that find themselves subject to a congressional investigation.
