The National Center on Philanthropy and the Law is accepting applications for two fellowships in nonprofit law at the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and Lawyers Alliance for New York. Gordon and Betty Moore (Moore) Foundation Fellowship in Nonprofit Law
– Palo Alto, California

  • About: The Moore Foundation Fellowship in Nonprofit Law offers the opportunity for a recent law school graduate to spend a year with the Legal Team at the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation in Palo Alto, California. The Fellow will work with the team to provide solutions-oriented, high-quality, legal advice and counsel to the foundation’s board, leadership and programmatic and administrative teams, working on a wide range of matters, including: compliance with federal and state tax laws and regulations; complex and international grant making; general corporate and operations issues; business transactions; employment law, intellectual property, and real estate matters. The Fellow will be an integral part of the legal team, gaining experience in the practice of law within a grantmaking private foundation.
  • Term and Salary: The term of the Moore Foundation Fellowship is one year. The 2023 Fellow will receive a salary of minimum $100,000 plus benefits. For more information about benefits, please visit: https://www.moore.org/about/working-at-moore.

National Center on Philanthropy and the Law (NCPL) Fellowship in Nonprofit Law-New York, NY

  • About: The NCPL Fellowship in Nonprofit Law permits one Fellow each year to spend a year in residence at a nonprofit organization. The 2023-2024 Fellow will work closely with senior staff and staff attorneys at Lawyers Alliance for New York (Lawyers Alliance) who have practice specialties that will expose the Fellow to a broad range of disciplines that address the legal needs of nonprofit organizations. Given the varied nature of the legal work performed by Lawyers Alliance and the diverse group of nonprofit organizations it represents, the NCPL Fellow will experience the widest possible exposure to representing nonprofit organizations on interesting and complex legal projects. These legal challenges will enable the NCPL Fellow to develop relevant skills to the maximum extent.

  • Term and Salary: The term of the Fellowship is one year. Fellows are funded annually at a salary of $65,000 plus benefits.
