2007-08 Priority Guidance Plan

For those of you who don’t already know, here is the IRS 2007-08 Priority Guidance Plan as it relates to tax exempt organization.  Appropos Senator Grassley’s continuing inquiries into Mega-Churches, note that private inurement and excess benefit remain at the top of the list.  Grassley’s wasting his time, I think.  For very complex reasons, houses of worship have lots of allies in Congress.  For an interesting, though slightly dated discussion of Congress’ solicitude towards houses of worship, see this 2006 NY Times article.
