Senator Tom Cotton Doesn’t Understand Voter Registration Drives

Does Tom Cotton seriously think the Service can or should monitor nonprofit voter registration drives to determine whether exempt organizations sufficiently balance their voter registration venues between red and blue places?  Or is he just not happy that the Voter Participation Center is being explicit about what we already know?  Voter registration drives don’t register people just to increase turnout.  They register voters sympathetic to their causes.  Right leaning groups don’t register votes in left-leaning neighborhoods nor vice versa.  Anything else would be stupid. Why is this a surprise or a reason for righteous indignation?  Besides, where’s the lie?  John Wayne was right wing, sometimes racist military hawk who only ever wore combat boots on a Hollywood set.
