Nonprofits successfully fight “pause” of federal funding

It has been a dizzying… moment of time. Yesterday, President Trump issued a “temporary pause” of virtually all federal funding.
This led to widespread chaos, as countless dollars in federal funds are dispersed to states and provided to nonprofits and other entities performing valuable research and other work. Represented by Democracy Forward,  the National Council of Nonprofits and others immediately challenged the order, obtaining a Temporary Restraining Order against its enforcement. Basic separation of powers law suggested that Congress, not the President, had the power of the purse. So, almost immediately, the federal government caved, and rescinded the freeze on federal funding.

Let’s see what tomorrow brings.
