As reported by SFGate, in a dispute between a donor and the Kars4Kids charity a California court has issued an injunction prohibiting the charity from advertising in the state unless it modifies its ads to more fully disclose the charity’s religious affiliation (Orthodox Judaism), the geographic area where its money is spent (New York and New Jersey), and the age of the beneficiaries (teenagers). The charity sought to have the order stayed pending appeal, but the court refused to do so. The order is therefore currently scheduled to go into effect on June 8th, after a 30-day grace period. In response to the decision, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation has chosen remove Kars4Kids ads from its channels. Other coverage: N.Y. Times.
